Chapter 10 - THE MIDPOINT TRUTH

The investigation intensified. Every lead was followed. Every name on Arthur’s list was tracked down and questioned. Slowly, piece by piece, the full picture emerged.

Arthur had been manipulating events for longer than any of us had realized.

He had encouraged Evelyn to forge the will. He had supplied the lawyers. He had told her exactly what to say and do. He had been the hand moving all the pieces while she believed she was acting of her own free will.

He had been the one to threaten Grace. He had been the one to poison her. And he had been planning, all along, to frame Evelyn for everything.

When Evelyn had finally realized the truth—when she had seen Arthur’s plans written in his own hand—she had been horrified. That was why she had torn the bear apart. That was why she had been so desperate to find whatever Grace had hidden. She had been trying to destroy evidence that would implicate Arthur… not realizing Grace had already protected us both.
