Sarah returned home. Dr. Thorne fully recovered and testified publicly, clearing Claire’s name completely. Her reputation restored. Her name honored.
I visited her grave one golden afternoon. Noah ran ahead through grass, wildflowers in his hand. I knelt before the headstone. Laid both ledgers side by side atop it—the one that exposed them, and the one that revealed the truth.
“You were brilliant,” I told her quietly. “Braver than any of them. And you were right. He is mine. And he is safe. Forever.”
