She was silent.

Then: "Where are you?""

"What did you do, Fiona?""

"Daniel, come backI stared at my signature on the document until the letters blurred.

Daniel R. Henderson.

The R curled exactly to the hotel.""

"No.""

"Please.""

That was the first time she'd said please all night.

"No.""

Her breath shook.

"This isn't something we can discuss over the phone.""

"Then start the way I wrote it.

The final stroke of the H slanted slightly upward.

Whoever had signed my name had studied it carefully.

with the document.""

Another pause.

"It's complicated.""

"Try me.""

"My dad was in trouble.""

"Financial trouble?""

But there was one mistake.

I always placed a small dash beneath my surname on legal"Yes.""

"And you knew.""

"I knew some of it.""

"How much?""

"Daniel—"

"How much?""

Her voice dropped.

"Enough.""

I closed my eyes.

Behind me, nobody moved.

Fiona continued.

"Dad said Sullivan Group was squeezing us.""

"Us?""

"Your father stole from mine.""

"What?""

I opened my eyes.

"You didn't know that part?""

"No.""

"Interesting. with someone else's.

The signature on the page had no dash.

"That's not mine," I said.

Mom squeezed my hand.

"I know.""

Arthur enlarged the document on his Apparently George started Blake Meridian after stealing money from my father.""

"That's tablet.

"Mr. Henderson, we believe your signature was copied from paperwork you completed at the Blake family offices insane.""

"Ask him.""

"I will.""

"Great. Ask him why my father's suspicious death happened around the same time.""

Silence three months ago.""

I looked at him.

"What paperwork?""

"Do you recall signing a confidentiality agreement before attending the Blake Development.

A longer one.

When Fiona spoke again, her voice was softer.

"Danny, you're angry.""

"I passed angry.""

investor retreat?""

I did.

George had invited me to a weekend gathering at his estate outside"I didn't marry you because of money.""

There it was.

The sentence she'd prepared.

Too quickly.

Too perfectly.

"You didn't?""

Philadelphia. He'd introduced me to several executives and encouraged me to consider a senior engineering position at his company.

I'd declined.

My own career was going well, and"No.""

"Then why does a document say my marriage was collateral?""

"It wasn't collateral.""

"What would you call it?""

"Insurance.""

The room I had no interest in becoming financially dependent on Fiona's father.

But I'd signed the standard visitor documents.

"George said everyone had went cold.

I laughed.

I couldn't help it.

"Insurance.""

"Not like that.""

"Exactly like that.""

"Dad to sign them," I muttered.

Arthur nodded.

"One of those documents included a signature authorization page. Our investigators believe it was used to prepare this agreement.""

I looked down again.

The contract contained believed your mother wouldn't move against him if our families were connected.""

"Did you?""

"I believed being married to you would give everyone time.""

"For what?""

" legal language about marital property, beneficial ownership, contingent inheritances, and discretionary spousal control.

To fix things.""

"So you knew my mother controlled Sullivan.""

"Yes.""

That answer hurt more than I expectedI understood almost none of it.

"What does this actually do?""

Arthur hesitated.

"By itself, nothing. It's an apparent attempt.

"How long?""

"About eighteen months.""

I sat down.

We'd been engaged for fourteen.

"You knew before I proposed to create evidence of your consent to future asset transfers. Several provisions are unenforceable, and the forged signature.""

"Yes.""

"And you never told me.""

"I couldn't.""

"Why?""

"Dad said your mother made makes the document especially problematic.""

Mom's expression was grim.

"But if Daniel accepted you live normally because she didn't want you knowing about the money.""

"That part's apparently true the marriage, signed additional paperwork later, and never questioned the original.""

"I was trying to respect that.""

I almost laughed again.

"You were respecting my mother's privacy while secretly using agreement...""

Arthur finished her sentence.

"They could attempt to build a chain of apparently legitimate authorizations our marriage to influence her business decisions?""

"I loved you.""

"Past tense?""

"You know what I mean.""

"No, Fiona..""

I felt sick.

"What assets?""

Mom looked directly at me.

"Your grandfather's trust.""

I shook my head.

"But I don't own anything Tonight I realized I don't.""

Her breathing grew uneven.

"Come back.""

"Why?""

"Because if you don't, Dad says everything collapses tomorrow.""

.""

"You are a beneficiary, Daniel.""

She opened her handbag again.

This time, she removed a folded letter.

The paper was old, but"That sounds like Dad's problem.""

"Thousands of people could lose their jobs.""

That stopped me.

Fiona heard the silence.

She knew me well enough the envelope looked new.

"Your grandfather established two family trusts. One held the voting control of to recognize the opening.

"Daniel, listen to me. Blake Meridian employs families. Regular the original business. The other was intended to provide for his descendants.""

She handed me the letter.

"Your portion became distributable when you turned thirty-five, subject to the terms of the people. People with mortgages and kids. Whatever you think about my parents, those employees didn't do anything.""

I looked at Mom.

She was listening.

Fiona continued.

"If you trust.""

I stared at her.

"I turned thirty-five four months ago.""

"I know.""

"Then why didn't you tell me?""

She looked down.

"Because I was waiting for the trustees to finish resolving the restrictions. And come back and we make it clear tonight was just a fight, Dad can negotiate with Mary.""

"You're asking me to pretend we're still married.""

"We * because, by then, you were engaged to Fiona.""

I looked at the letter.

A terrible realizationare* still married.""

"For six hours.""

"Legally, yes.""

"Not for long.""

She started crying.

At least began forming.

"George knew.""

"Yes.""

"He knew I was your son.""

"Not at first," Mom said.

"You have your, I thought she was.

Months earlier, that sound would have destroyed me.

Now I couldn't tell what was real.

"Danny, please.""

"Answer one question.""

"Anything father's surname. George hadn't seen me for decades. But someone working.""

"When your mother called mine trash, why did you laugh?""

Silence.

"No explanations. No alcohol. No awkwardness. Tell me why.""

"I...""

I waited.

Finally, for his company reviewed your family records during the background check he ordered before offering you that engineering position.""

Arthur added, "We traced an inquiry into the she whispered, "Because everyone else was laughing.""

I closed my eyes.

There it was.

A coward's answer.

Maybe that was worse than cruelty.

Whitcomb family trust registry to one of Blake Development's outside legal consultants.""

I covered my mouth.

GeorgeFiona hadn't laughed because she hated my mother.

She'd laughed because powerful people were laughing, and Fiona had spent her whole life learning that belonging mattered more than decency had spent three years pretending I was a charity case fortunate enough to marry his daughter.

All while knowing I was connected.

"Goodbye, Fiona.""

"Daniel, wait—"

I disconnected.

The room remained silent.

Mom sat beside me.

"I'm sorry.""

I looked at her.

"For what?""

"For not telling you who I to the family whose business had once employed him.

"How much?"" I asked.

Mom didn't answer.

I was.""

"Did you sign that agreement?""

"I signed something.""

The anger returned instantly.

"What?""

"Not that.""

looked at Arthur.

"How much money are we talking about?""

He glanced at her.

"Tell him," she"Explain.""

She held out her hand toward Evelyn.

"Find the Kensington memorandum.""

Evelyn was already typing.

"What is that said.

Arthur folded his hands.

"Based on the most recent independent valuation, Mr. Henderson, your vested beneficial interest?"" I asked.

Mom rubbed her temple.

"Eight months is approximately eighty-six million dollars, before applicable taxes and final distributions.""

Silence.

The tires whispered ago, Fiona contacted me.""

I stared at her.

"Fiona contacted you directly?""

"Yes.""

"Why?""

"She said George was frightened that Sullivan Group intended to accelerate a series of loans.""

"And were you?""

"Yes.""

"She asked you over wet pavement.

Eighty-six million dollars.

I thought of our little two-bedroom house.

Of Mom counting coins at the not to?""

"She asked for ninety days.""

I stood.

"Why would you give her anything?""

"Because she said Blake Meridian needed time kitchen table.

Of the time I couldn't attend a school field trip because the admission fee was twenty-eight dollars.

And suddenly, I felt angry to sell assets without laying off employees.""

That sounded plausible.

Worse, it sounded exactly like the argument Fiona had just used on me.

Mom continued.

".

Not at George.

Not at Fiona.

At the woman sitting beside me.

"Mom.""

She closed her eyes.

"I know.""

"Eighty-six million dollars?""

"Daniel—"

She also told me she wanted to protect you from the dispute.""

I laughed bitterly.

"Of course she did.""

"I believed her.""

"So what did you sign?""

"A temporary standstill memorandum. Ninety"We struggled.""

"Yes.""

"You worked three jobs.""

"I did.""

"Sometimes you couldn't afford your medication!""

She looked at me.

For the first time that evening, her calm disappeared.

days. Nothing about marriage.""

Mercer turned his laptop toward us.

"I found the original.""

The document appeared on the wall screen.

Three pages.

Simple language.

No mention of me.

"That money wasn't available to me whenever I wanted it, sweetheart.""

"Then explain it!""

My voice cracked.

Arthur quietly raisedNo mention of Fiona.

No five-year marriage requirement.

Mom pointed.

"That's my signature.""

Evelyn compared it with the photograph.

"The signature is identical.""

the privacy partition between our seats and the driver.

Mom folded the letter carefully.

"When your grandfather died, the trustees offered me"Copied?"" I asked.

"Likely.""

Mercer zoomed in.

"More than likely. The artifacts match exactly.""

Mom's jaw tightened.

"They forged an arrangement. I could receive a substantial allowance if I agreed to surrender my voting it.""

Evelyn nodded.

"We need the physical document.""

My phone buzzed again.

This time the message came from an unknown number.

**Mr. Henderson, you don't know me. My name interest, withdraw my challenges to certain company transactions, and allow a management committee to exercise control until Daniel reached is Claire Donnelly.

I work for Blake Meridian. Fiona told me if anything went wrong adulthood.""

"Why didn't you agree?""

"Because I discovered irregularities in the transactions they wanted me tonight, I was supposed to destroy a file. I think you need to see it instead.**

Below the message to approve. Some of those transactions involved George.""

I looked away.

She continued.

"When your father began investigating, he was an address.

I showed Mom.

Mercer's expression changed.

"Claire Donnelly is George Blake found evidence that company assets were being transferred at artificially low prices to businesses connected to outside directors.""

"George.""

's executive assistant.""

Mom stood.

"Where is she?""

I read the address.

Mercer looked at Evelyn.

"Blake Meridian headquarters.""

Mom checked the time.

11:"George was one of them.""

"And Dad?""

Her eyes filled.

"Your father refused to sign off on the engineering assessments18 p.m.

"We go now.""

The headquarters occupied fourteen floors of a steel-and-glass building near Rittenhouse Square.

By the time our cars arrived, the rain had softened to a mist supporting those transfers.""

I stared at her.

"He was investigating George when he died?""

"Yes.""

"Did George kill him?""

The question hung between us.

Mom pressed her.

Claire met us in the underground parking garage.

She was maybe forty.

Her coat was buttoned wrong.

Her hair looked like she'd run her hands through it a hundred lips together.

"I don't know.""

I turned toward her.

"Mom.""

"I don't know, Daniel. I've asked myself that question for twenty-eight years times.

"You brought Mary Sullivan," she whispered.

Mom stepped forward.

"Claire.""

Claire looked terrified.

"I can't lose.""

She wiped her cheek.

"Your father died in a collision with a commercial truck. The driver was cleared after claiming he'd lost control on wet pavement. Three months my job.""

Mom's voice softened.

"If what you have protects innocent people, I'll make sure you're protected.""

later, the trucking company's parent corporation was acquired by a business connected to George's former investment partners.""

My chest tightened.

"That can't be a coincidence.""

"It may notClaire swallowed.

Then she looked at me.

"I'm sorry about your wedding.""

"You're not the person who needs to apologize.""

She nodded be. But suspicion is not proof.""

Arthur lowered the partition slightly.

"Mrs. Henderson, I apologize for and led us inside.

The building was nearly empty.

Our footsteps echoed across polished stone.

In an executive office on the twelfth floor, Claire closed the door and interrupting. We're approaching the residence.""

Mom nodded.

I barely heard him.

"Does Fiona know about the pulled a flash drive from inside her shoe.

Mercer stared at it.

"You carried it there?""

"I didn't know who might search me.""

She inserted it into a laptop.

Folders appeared.

Hundreds trust?""

Mom looked at me.

"We have evidence suggesting she does.""

I stared out the window.

Fiona.

The woman of them.

Emails.

Scanned agreements.

Financial records.

Audio recordings.

"What is this?"" Mom asked.

Claire's eyes filled who had kissed me beneath an oak tree during our second date.

Who had held.

"George's private archive.""

Evelyn leaned closer.

"Why do you have it?""

"He told me to delete it if the my face between her hands and told me she'd never met someone who made her feel so safe.

Who had spent months talking about our future children.

Our home.

Our life together.

"Show me," refinancing failed.""

"And instead you copied it.""

"Yes.""

"Why?""

Claire's face hardened.

"Because last month I found out my pension was almost gone.""

No one I whispered.

Arthur passed back the tablet.

He opened a series of recovered messages.

The first was dated six weeks before our engagement.

spoke.

She clicked a folder labeled *HENDERSON*.

My stomach tightened.

Inside were dozens of files.

Photographs of meGeorge: Have you confirmed whether Daniel has received notification from the trustees?

Fiona: Not yet. He says.

Employment records.

Tax information.

College records.

Background checks.

Pictures of his mother handles old family paperwork. He has no Mom.

Even pictures of my childhood house.

I stared at Claire.

"Why does George have this?""

"I don't know.""

Then she opened another folder.

*FIONA PROJECT.*

My throat went dry idea.

George: Keep it that way until the marriage arrangements are finalized.

My breathing changed.

Arthur sc.

Inside was a spreadsheet.

Dates.

Locations.

Names.

The first entry was from almostrolled.

Fiona: What happens if he refuses to sign the documents after the wedding?

George: He won't. He trusts you.

Then another message.

Fiona: And the old woman three years ago.

Six months before I'd ever met Fiona.

Beside my name were notes.

**Target profile:?

George: Margaret has spent decades avoiding the family business. She won't interfere now.

I stared Daniel Henderson.**

**Approach recommendation: social introduction through Greenbridge Foundation at the screen.

Fiona had known.

Before the engagement.

Before the proposal.

Possibly before she ever told me she loved me.

The car came event.**

**Known preferences: avoids status-focused partners; to a stop.

Arthur opened the door, and cool night air values modesty, family loyalty, professional independence.**

My hands began to shake.

Fiona and I had met rushed inside.

We were parked outside a beautiful stone residence surrounded by tall trees and iron gates.

Warm light glowed through enormous windows at a Greenbridge Foundation charity event.

She had spilled sparkling water on my sleeve.

She'd laughed.

I'd made a joke.

We talked for.

It looked like the kind of property I'd once admired while driving through Philadelphia's Main Line three hours.

For nearly three years, I'd told people meeting her had been the luckiest accident of my life.

It hadn't been an accident.

Claire clicked an email.

Sender: George, never imagining I might be invited inside.

Mom touched my arm.

"Daniel, we can finish this conversation tomorrow.""

"No.""

I stepped out.

"I need to know everything tonight.""

Inside Blake.

Recipient: Fiona Blake.

**He cannot know who Mary really is. If he believes you're interested in his family rather than his inheritance,, a woman in her sixties approached my mother immediately.

"Margaret.""

She embraced her.

Mom held her tightly.

"Hello, attachment will form naturally.**

Another email.

**Don't push luxury. Henderson distrusts displays of Eleanor.""

Eleanor looked at me, then at my tuxedo trousers and disheveled shirt.

I remembered"Oh, Daniel.""

I frowned.

"Do I know you?""

She gave me a sad smile.

"We met when you were very little. Fiona suddenly becoming interested in the community food bank where I'd volunteered.

Mom guided me into a his happiness over old grievances.**

I couldn't feel my hands.

Mom whispered my name.

I shook my head.

Claire opened a newer folder.

Wedding planning sitting room.

A fire burned beneath an enormous limestone mantel.

On a nearby table sat a silver-fr.

Seating charts.

Guest lists.

Notes from George.

Then an audio file.

Recorded two weeks earlier.

Claire hesitatedamed photograph of a young boy riding a blue bicycle.

I stopped.

The boy was me.

My father stood beside me,.

"You should hear this.""

She pressed play.

George's voice filled the office.

"After the wedding, Mary won't touch us.""

one hand resting on the handlebars.

I hadn't seen that photograph in decades.

"Where did you get this?""

Mom looked over my shoulderThen Fiona.

Calm.

Not crying.

Not conflicted.

"She might.""

George laughed.

"Not if.

"I kept a copy.""

I picked it up.

Dad was smiling.

He looked so alive that my knees almost Daniel thinks you're pregnant.""

My breath stopped.

Fiona replied, "I'm not telling him that unless gave way.

Eleanor quietly closed the sitting room doors.

Arthur placed several folders on the table.

"Mrs. Henderson, the emergency we absolutely need to.""

"You'll tell him whatever keeps him in the marriage.""

A chair scraped in the recording.

Then Beverly's voice.

"What if Mary refuses anyway committee is ready to proceed with the scheduled review.""

Mom removed my tuxedo jacket and folded it over a chair?""

George answered.

"Then Fiona gives Daniel the document. He'll pressure his mother himself.""

There was a pause.

Then Fiona said.

"Not yet. Daniel deserves an explanation.""

She sat opposite me.

Eleanor took the adjacent chair.

"Daniel," Eleanor began, "your mother retained substantial something so quietly Claire increased the volume.

"And if Daniel finds out we planned all of ownership rights after the estate dispute. Over the years, those rights increased through restructuring and reinvestment.""

I looked at Mom.

"So you've been running Whitcomb?""

" this?""

George chuckled.

"By then you'll have a Blake-Sullivan child, and he'll forgive anything.""

The recording ended.

Nobody movedNot its day-to-day operations. I remained involved through representatives and eventually regained control of the voting trust.""

"Why work as a mechanic, then.

The office lights hummed overhead.

I stared at the dark laptop screen where my reflection looked?""

She smiled faintly.

"Because I liked being a mechanic. Your grandfather taught me to repair machines, not sit like a stranger.

My entire relationship replayed itself in fragments.

The charity event.

Fiona's sudden interest in in an office pretending I understood them.""

Eleanor chuckled.

Mom's smile faded.

"But the jobs I worked when my childhood.

Her admiration for Mom's "strength.""

The engagement.

Her insistence on a huge wedding.

Her father's strange eagerness to pay for everything.

None of it had you were young were necessary. The estate was tied up, and I wouldn't compromise the investigation to obtain an allowance. Later, when the financial restrictions were resolved, I was afraid of been accidental.

Maybe some of it had become real.

That almost made it worse.

Then Claire spoke.

"There's one more file.""

I looked up.

She seemed what that money might attract.""

She paused.

"And eventually, my quiet life became something I didn't want to lose.""

I thought about our old afraid to open it.

"What?""

"It isn't about Fiona.""

She clicked a folder hidden beneath kitchen.

The smell of coffee in the mornings.

Mom listening to baseball games on the radio while repairing small engines in the garage.

It had all financial records.

The label was a date.

The date my father died.

Mom saw it.

Every trace of color left her face.

"Claire," she whispered, " been real.

Our lives hadn't been a performance.

She'd simply kept an enormous part of hers hidden.

"Why tell mewhere did you get that?""

"It was in George's archive.""

Mom gripped the back of a chair.

Mercer moved beside her now?""

Mom and Eleanor exchanged a glance.

Eleanor opened the first folder.

"Because George Blake accelerated his plans after learning Daniel's trust interest.

"Mary?""

She waved him away.

"Open it.""

Claire clicked.

There were three scanned pages.

An old invoice.

A handwritten note.

And a photograph of a damaged had vested. In addition to the forged agreement, our investigators identified efforts to obtain confidential trust records, car.

My father's car.

I knew it from childhood pictures.

A blue Buick with a dent near unauthorized account inquiries, and communications suggesting an intent to manipulate Daniel into signing financial authorizations.""

"And the acquisition?"" I asked.

Eleanor nodded.

the rear bumper.

In the photograph, the hood was crushed.

The windshield shattered.

Mom covered her mouth.

Then Evelyn leaned toward the handwritten note.

"What's that number?""

Claire zoomed"Whitcomb began negotiating the purchase of several distressed Blake Development debt positions before Fiona's intentions were confirmed. We completed a separate equity in.

"Yes.""

"And his company?""

"A controlling voting position, has been handled. The issue should resolve itself on Route 30.**

Mom made a sound I had never heard from her before.

Not a cry.

Something smaller through the entities involved in today's transaction.""

I shook my head.

"Mom, you could destroy him.""

She looked at me steadily.

"I could insist that he answer for what he has done.""

Before I.

Older.

Thirty years of grief collapsing into one breath.

I caught her before her knees gave way.

"Mom.""

She clutched my arm.

"Your father could respond, Eleanor's phone rang.

She glanced at the number.

Her expression tightened.

"It's the Bellwether.""

Mom called me that night.""

"What?""

"He said he'd found proof.""

Her eyes remained fixed on the screen.

"He said George was finished.""

Claire frowned.

"What's happened?""

Eleanor answered.

"Yes?""

She listened.

Then slowly stood.

"Are you certain?""

Her eyes moved toward me.

"Put him through.""

whispered, "There's an audio file too.""

Mom froze.

"What audio file?""

Claire looked at me.

A man's panicked voice filled the room.

"Ms. Price, this is Jonathan Reed, the hotel's general manager. I'm sorryThen at her.

"It was recorded the night your husband died.""

She moved the cursor toward it.

Before she to call so late, but we have a serious situation.""

"What situation?""

"Mr. Blake and his daughter have requested that we secure all reception recordings could click, every light in the office went out.

The laptop screen vanished.

The hallway emergency lights flashed red.

Then came the unmistakable. They're claiming Mr. Henderson behaved violently and threatened the family.""

I stood.

"What electronic clunk of the executive floor doors locking.

Mercer moved instantly.

"Nobody move.""

?""

Jonathan continued.

"Mrs. Blake also instructed her personal assistant to contact several guests and ask them to sign statements describing the incident.""

Eleanor's faceMy phone vibrated.

Unknown number.

I answered.

George Blake's voice came through.

Quiet.

Controlled.

"Daniel.""

My blood turned cold.

"Where are you?""

He ignored the question.

Instead, he said:

"You hardened.

"Do not release or alter any recordings. Preserve everything under your standard retention procedures should have stayed at your wedding.""

Then somewhere outside the office door, footsteps began moving. I'll send a formal preservation notice immediately.""

"Understood. There's something else.""

"What?""

"The bride just gave slowly down the dark hallway toward us. ::: an interview to a local online publication.""

My stomach sank.

Eleanor put the call on speaker.

Jonathan hesitated.

"She's claiming that Daniel abandoned her at the altar after discovering his elderly mother had fabricated a wealthy identity to extort the Blake family.""

I stared at the phone.

"She said what?""

"Apparently, her statement also alleges that Mrs. Henderson has been impersonating a member of the Whitcomb family.""

Mom's expression didn't change.

But Eleanor closed her eyes briefly.

Jonathan continued.

"The article is already circulating. Mrs. Blake has provided photographs of the wedding, including one of the groom's mother.""

Arthur pulled out his phone.

Within seconds, he found the story.

He placed it on the table.

There was Fiona, crying beneath the Bellwether's chandeliers.

Her diamond earrings glittered against her cheeks.

The headline read:

*PHILADELPHIA HEIRESS ABANDONED ON WEDDING NIGHT AS GROOM'S FAMILY ACCUSED OF ELABORATE FINANCIAL DECEPTION.*

Beneath it was a photograph of my mother.

Her navy dress.

Her old handbag.

Her worn shoes.

Fiona had supplied a statement describing Mom as an unstable elderly woman who had spent years inventing connections to a wealthy industrial dynasty.

Then I saw the final paragraph.

Fiona claimed that I had assaulted her father during the reception and threatened to obtain control of Blake Development through fraudulent means.

"She's lying," I whispered.

Arthur was already making notes.

"We have witnesses and video.""

But Mom wasn't looking at the article anymore.

She was staring at the photograph of herself.

For a long moment, she said nothing.

Then she removed her old pearl necklace.

I had seen her wear it on birthdays, holidays, and every important occasion of my childhood.

She placed it carefully beside the newspaper clipping Arthur had printed.

Eleanor inhaled.

"Margaret...""

Mom looked up.

"George wants to make this public?""

Her voice was almost gentle.

Eleanor nodded.

"It appears so.""

"Then we'll accommodate him.""

She reached for the leather folder.

Inside was a photograph of George Blake standing beside my father outside a construction site.

Mom turned it toward me.

"Daniel, there's one last thing you need to see.""

She pointed to a handwritten notation on the back.

It was my father's handwriting.

I recognized it immediately.

Three words had been written beneath a date, four days before his death.

*George knows everything.*

May you like

And below that, in darker ink, was a sentence that made my mother's hand tremble.

*If anything happens to me, ask Margaret about the second ledger.*
